Pavlina Rangelova

Piano Teacher

Pavlina started playing the piano at the age of 5, in her home city of Varna (Bulgaria), where she studied at the National School of Arts with major in Music and Piano Performance. She continued her music education at the National Music Academy in Sofia (Bulgaria), and she graduated from her master’s degree in Piano Performance with Distinction in 2009. Pavlina also studied Piano Pedagogy in Detmold (Germany) between 2005-2007. During the years of her studies, she has played recitals in Bulgaria, France and Germany and won awards from national and international piano competitions as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist.

After her graduation, at the beginning of 2010, Pavlina began her full-time teaching career at the House of Arts Institute, in the city of Al Ain (United Arab Emirates). During her 4.5 years as a teacher there, she has taught a variety of students, of all ages (preschool-adults), various backgrounds, different ability levels and all with different goals and expectations. She has often prepared students for ABRSM piano and music theory exams, always with excellent outcome. Together with her colleagues, Pavlina organised a variety of music workshops at the UAE University (Al Ain), and taught group piano classes to students there. She also passed an ABRSM Piano Teaching Diploma exam (DipABRSM) in 2013.

House of Arts was also where Pavlina first became interested in teaching music to younger children in a group setting, which led to her training as a Kindermusik© educator and further group-teaching experience. In 2014 she moved to Abu Dhabi (UAE), where she took on the role of a classroom music teacher and subject leader in a primary school. Apart from the whole-class sessions there, she conducted a school band, organised various after-school music clubs, and created an after-school piano lessons program.

In 2017, Pavlina has graduated from an International PGCE course at University of Nottingham (UK). During this course she focused on exploring in depth different approaches to teaching and theories of learning, especially in a group setting, and conducted a research on young children’s aural skills and understanding.

Pavlina relocated to London in December 2017, where she continues to teach piano and develop her teaching style further. As a firm believer in the teaching philosophy of MMQ Piano Studio, she is very excited to be part of the team!
